            To Meg

There are many times as life goes by
                We know are milestones then;
Times we’ll look back on and wish
                To live them all again.

At first the wish is buried deep
                Easy to ignore.
But, with each passing year
                We’ll miss them even more.

Your childhood was a precious time,
                Behind you now, it’s clear.
Adulthood beckons with bony finger
                But, you should never fear.

You have the character and desire
        To conquer life anew.
The future lies in splendor now
                Waiting just for you.

Congratulations on all you’ve done,
                More on who you are.
I’ve been proud for eighteen years
                Be it from afar.

So tackle life with gusto now
                Your spirit will you lead
Remember God’s and family’s love
                Is there for every need.
